The Fine Arts Center is committed to providing access to all visitors. We want to make your visit as easy and comfortable as possible. This page is designed to help you plan your trip.
For additional information prior to your visit, please call (719) 634-5581, Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. (until 8 p.m. Fridays), or email fac@coloradocollege.edu. Once in the museum, questions about accessibility may be directed to Patron Experience Guides or to staff at the information desk in the lobby.
Visitors with mobility impairment
The Fine Arts Center’s map locates accessible entrance, check in, accessible lift, and elevators.
Vehicles displaying the international symbol of accessibility may park in the designated parking spaces in the Fine Arts Center’s parking lot located on the north side.
Getting around
All levels of the museums are accessible by elevator, including exhibition spaces and all public facilities. Refer to the museum map for more information.
Restrooms on both floors have wheelchair accessible stalls. Family/All Gender Restroom is located on the first floor west of the lobby.
Wheelchairs are available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis and are located near the entrance to our Coat Room, adjacent to the lobby.
Museum galleries are wheelchair accessible, as are our mainstage and second stage theaters. Access to the Music Room (second stage) which is located on the second floor is available via elevator, which is located adjacent to the staircase leading to the second floor theater, off of our main lobby. Designated wheelchair seating is available in our mainstage theater. Please inquire with our Front Desk staff to reserve.
Benches and portable stools are located throughout the museum.
Visitors who are deaf or have hearing loss
American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation of programs and tours is available upon request. Because the FAC does not have interpreters on staff, two weeks’ notice is requested to arrange for interpreters. Please contact fac@coloradocollege.edu.
Assistive listening devices are available upon request for museum led tours and for events in the mainstage theatre.
All videos shown in conjunction with museum exhibition’s are captioned.
Visitors who are blind or have low vision

Mashburn/Marshall Tactile Gallery
“Tactile Gallery” is a museum term that means a room for touching. This is the only gallery in the Fine Arts Center where you are invited and encouraged to touch the art. The Mashburn/Marshall Tactile Gallery is always free to enter and explore during museum hours.
You are encouraged to experience each object in the gallery with as many of your senses as possible: hands, fingers, eyes. Spend as much time as you like. Getting to know a piece of art is like making a new friend — it takes time.
Generally, the Fine Arts Center is a quiet place. If you are sensitive to noise, consider bringing noise-canceling headphones.
ADA Service animals are welcome
The Fine Arts Center follows the U.S. Department of Justice’s ADA requirements for service animals. The animal must be trained to provide assistance to a person with a disability.
Other animals — pets, emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs — are not permitted as service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA. Additionally, a doctor’s letter does not qualify an animal as a service animal.
If it is not immediately apparent, our staff may ask you the following two questions of a patron who enters our building with an animal:
- Is the animal required because of a disability?
- What work or task has the animal been trained to perform?
