Photograph of Aspens by Ansel Adams

Fine Arts Center Museum to Present Ansel Adams Exhibition

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 22, 2021) — The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College (FAC) is pleased to present “Ansel Adams: Masterworks” from May 29–Sept. 4, 2021. The exhibition features forty-eight works from renowned photographer Ansel Adams’ Museum Set, a series which he felt best represented his life’s work.

These photographs include many of the breathtaking landscapes for which Adams is revered—images that reflect his staunch environmentalism and enthusiasm for the outdoors. Others speak to the breadth of the artist’s interests, from architectural structures to cultural sites to portraits of individuals.

In a career that spanned more than five decades, Adams profoundly influenced the course of twentieth-century photography through his innovative and technically precise approach to the medium. As an artist, educator, innovator, and writer, his dedication to advancing the art of photography helped establish foundational methods that are still taught in many notable US institutions.

The collection was donated to Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Redding, CA, by Dr. Fidel Realyvasquez in 2002. The traveling exhibition is organized by Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Redding, CA, in association with Landau Traveling Exhibitions, Los Angeles, CA.

The FAC presentation of “Ansel Adams: Masterworks, From the Collection of the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Redding CA” is generously supported by the John and Margot Lane Foundation.
