Why did you become a member of the Fine Arts Center?
We first became members when we found we could get a discount on the season tickets for the Theatre Company’s productions.
When did your interest in the arts begin?
I think for me it was when I was a little girl watching my grandmother design and make quilts with her quilting group. Also, when I learned to play the cello in the 6th grade. For both of us our interest in the arts increased while we lived in Germany where Jack was stationed. We were able to visit some museums and old castles such as Neuschwanstein while we were there and see many examples of beautiful architecture in the churches and other buildings.
What has been one of your favorite plays, classes or exhibits at the Fine Arts Center?
It would be hard to name a particular play or musical that is our favorite but we enjoy all of them and think the productions are done very well. We especially enjoyed the Dale Chihuly art exhibitions and the play with light exhibit, Continuous by Charles and Collin Parson.
What is your favorite work of art at the FAC?
Our favorites would include the portrait of Elsie Palmer by John Singer Sargent and Dale Chihuly’s Macchia and Persian Wall.
What else do you like to do for fun in Colorado Springs?
We enjoy taking walks together and with the Falcon Wanderers walking club. We also enjoy many activities offered by our church, First Lutheran, including a theatre group and our senior group, OWLS (Older Wiser Lutherans) that go on many tours in the area in the warmer months and have guest speakers in the winter at our potlucks. I also enjoy singing in the Choir and playing my cello for church.
