Join us for a special conversation with Chicano art collector Cheech Marin and FAC Curator of Southwest Art Polly Nordstrand.
Cheech Marin is recognized as a preeminent Chicano art advocate. He started collecting art by Chicana/o artists in the 1980s. Today, he is credited with creating what is now arguably the finest private collection of Chicana/o art out there. Twenty years ago, he began sharing his collection through traveling exhibitions like Papel Chicano Dos (on view at the FAC through August 7, 2021). The new Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum (to open in Spring 2022) will feature important works from the collection.
