SUMMARY:Gallery Talk: Natanya Pulley\, Ph.D.
DESCRIPTION:Diverse Voices / Diverse Forms \nNatanya Pulley\, Ph.D.\nAssistant Professor of English and 2018/2019 Mellon Faculty Fellow \nNatanya Pulley\, Ph.D.\, will discuss the UnBlocked Gallery exhibition Diverse Voices / Diverse Forms developed with students enrolled in English 380 during Block 8. The course and exhibition considers how diverse writers and artists break with structural or aesthetic traditions and mainstream or standard expectations in order to shake the ground. Instead of entering an environment on the artist or writer’s terms alone\, one’s positionality\, one’s ability to recognize and relate\, one’s knowledge of previous cultural forms and approaches can shape interpretation and critique. \nFollowing the talk\, join us for afternoon refreshments in Deco Lounge in conjunction with the FAC’s First Friday Art Party. \nFree and open to the public!
