SUMMARY:The Santos Story: A First Friday Conversation
DESCRIPTION:The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College is home to a nationally-renowned collection of Hispanic and Native American art\, including a collection of santos (religious representations of saints) from New Mexico and southern Colorado. Join FAC staff and the creative team behind a recent 3×3 Project focused on the history of the collection as they reassess the preservation\, curation\, and the display (or non-display of) sacred objects. Together they will explore possibilities for recontextualizing the past and reimagining future care for the collection of santos\, centering its creators and their descendants as makers and negotiators of its meaning.  Panelists include Miguel Gandert\, Robyn Haynie\, Jessica Kahkoska\, Polly Nordstrand\, Anita Rodriguez\, and Rebecca Tucker.
