SUMMARY:Speed Up Your Drawing
DESCRIPTION:This class will emphasize speed and accuracy in your drawings including how to start drawings faster. Students will be pushed on speed earlier in the class and then can relax into a longer drawing in the second half of the class. No laid-back\, leisurely drawing in this class. Standing is required to get an accurate drawing with speed and movement. Like athletics\, quick drawing requires active body movement and the ability to move to get a better angle. Drawing faster requires repetitive practice. \n\nAdults

SUMMARY:Enchanted Textures of Taos\, New Mexico
DESCRIPTION:Taos’ light\, color\, and culture have inspired modern artists for over 125 years to create inspirational and memorable paintings. Taos is especially stunning in the autumn with glorious textures and colors. Professional artist and instructor Martha Mans will concentrate on watercolor and gouache painting with a special small presentation about how she creates her casein paintings\, which is becoming an increasingly popular medium. \nWe will visit a different location each day with a demonstration by Martha to encourage you to try water media techniques designed to help you hone your painting skills. After breakfast\, our day will begin with a gathering at a specific location to watch a demonstration and take technical advice. We will enjoy the rest of the day painting with a break to have lunch and continue painting in the afternoon for as long as you’d like. Since studying how other artists approach painting is important to your artistic growth\, and to further your art experience\, Martha strongly advises that you take a little time to visit one or more of the wonderful museums or art galleries in Taos to study what other artists both from the past or present find so interesting and inspiring about Taos. We will gather for a critique in the afternoon around 4 p.m. before you head out on your own for dinner at one of the many restaurants Taos has to offer.

SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Figure Drawing
DESCRIPTION:Figure drawing is one of the basic skills all artists should have. I have developed a formula to teach drawing the human body that ensures most people are successful after just a few lessons. The first step is the stickman\, then we look at the fundamental areas of bulk in the body\, and finally\, there is “bubble boy”. Once you have mastered “bubble boy\,” we will continue to smooth out the form. \nLevel A – All levels welcome. \n\nAges 16-Adult

SUMMARY:Line Work and Glowing Watercolor
DESCRIPTION:In this class\, we will bring the line work of drawing and the luminosity of watercolor together in this addictive technique. We will practice layering sections of color to represent shapes or draw first and drop in paint. Or try the experimental approach by throwing paint randomly and allowing it to speak to you. Matched or mismatched\, the results will add interest and movement to your painting. Finish by adding details like layering more paint or more drawing. The choice is yours! \nLevel II – This class is for those who have taken at least one class in the medium. Students should be comfortable with the basics of how to use and manipulate the medium. \n\nAges 16–Adult
